 About Me

I am a Professor of Environmental Geography at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. My work focuses on the intersection of climate action and social equity. Recognizing the disproportionate impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations, I prioritize the development of innovative, climate-resilient strategies to uplift local communities while securing a sustainable future.

I work with communities and governments across the Caribbean to accelerate the adoption of innovative climate-resilient strategies to secure a sustainable future. I embrace the principle of community-based resilience, fostering a deep understanding of local dynamics and enabling the development of tailored climate change adaptation solutions.

My science-policy work involves serving on several intergovernmental scientific assessment teams, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), the World Ocean Assessment (WOA), and the Global Environmental Outlook (GEO-7).

My research integrates scientific and local knowledge to advocate for a harmonious balance between community resilience and environmental integrity. I firmly believe that the power of knowledge and action can help us navigate the existential threats of climate change. I am dedicated to contributing to a future where the Caribbean thrives in an era of climatic uncertainty.
