Caribbean Coastal Area Management (C-CAM) Foundation has been responsible for the management of 3 Special Fishery Conservation Areas (SFCAs), herein referred to as ‘fish sanctuaries’, since 2009. These 3 fish sanctuaries - Salt Harbour, Galleon Harbour and Three Bays - lie within the PBPA which was designated in 1999. This assessment supports the “Climate Change Adaptation in the Portland Bight Protected Area (PBPA), Jamaica” project which is funded by the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (5Cs) with support from Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). The objective is to provide the necessary recommendations toward the establishment of a new fish sanctuary in the PBPA, thus expanding their current network. This recommendation will be guided by available data on biophysical, socio-economic and managerial experience, and will ultimately culminate in a feasibility study.
