The work focused on an evaluation of the first investment of the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (2010-2015). Grants to 68 civil society organizations in eight countries (Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines) and territories were awarded to strengthen the protection and management of 468,268 hectares within high priority Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs). In addition, 111,496 hectares within eight KBAs were brought under new protection. The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) enables civil society to protect the world’s biodiversity hotspots—biologically rich ecosystems that are essential to humanity, yet highly threatened.
